Building on the experiences of the previous project, TerraMar II aims to enhance the sustainable management of Brazil’s marine and coastal ecosystems, increase its resilience to climate change, and support the transition to a fair and circular blue economy

The project takes a multi-level, gender-responsive approach, strengthening marine spatial planning (MSP) and integrated coastal management. It contributes to the development, review and implementation of national policies and instruments aimed at the conservation and sustainable use of marine and coastal ecosystems.

In a transversal way, the project integrates themes such as climate change, gender equality, participation of indigenous peoples and local communities (IPLCs) and institutional capacity building. Thus, TerraMar II supports the consolidation of inclusive, climate-oriented marine governance based on sustainability.
