Carbon markets are a cost-effective means of reducing emissions. PMI supports participating countries to design and implement carbon pricing instruments adjusted to national needs and development priorities. The project encourages an increase in ambition according to the mitigation potential of each country and promotes the creation of knowledge, resources, infrastructure and political-regulatory frameworks for the institution of carbon pricing instruments. It also provides a platform for technical discussions and exchange of information on carbon pricing and other mitigation policy instruments.
