The increase in consumption in Latin America has been increasing greenhouse gas emissions and pressure on natural resources. Environmental labeling and sustainable public procurement initiatives still vary widely across countries. 

The project seeks to harmonize and expand type I environmental labels as reliable information tools for consumers and governments, in addition to integrating climate and biodiversity protection criteria into public procurement practices. 

These actions foster a systemic change in the demand and supply of sustainable products, strengthening green production chains and the region’s role as a reference in responsible consumption and sustainable public procurement
