This project leads the Brazilian Electromobility Initiative, promoting the replacement of 1,739 diesel buses with electric buses (e-buses) with the aim of avoiding the emission of approximately 394 thousand tons of CO₂.
The strategy combines improved regulation, pilot funding and articulation with industry to foster the creation of a stable and secure market for electromobility. A first-loss guarantee program will be implemented to reduce initial risks and attract private investors.
The focus is also on promoting a just transition, ensuring that the benefits of electric mobility reach women, marginalized populations and industrial workers. The project provides for the diversification of the workforce and the strengthening of the national industry, in addition to promoting government commitments and long-term contracts.
Inter-ministerial coordination will be central to aligning sectoral plans with Brazil’s climate goals, consolidating electromobility as a strategic axis of Brazilian urban and industrial policy.
