Financing biodiversity conservation is a central challenge for the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). Most countries lack accurate information on the real costs of implementing their national biodiversity strategies. BIOFIN, currently present in more than 40 countries, is a global partnership that helps its partners to fill these knowledge gaps through the BIOFIN methodology. In a second stage, financial solutions adapted to the national context are developed and implemented. BIOFIN II (extended phase) focuses on four main axes:

  1. Implementation of national biodiversity financing plans;
  2. Financing of protected areas;
  3. Development of innovative financial solutions.
