Sustainable public procurement plays a strategic role in the implementation of public policies and in promoting sustainable development, directly contributing to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). More than simply considering the lowest price, sustainable procurement evaluates the economic, social, and environmental impacts throughout the entire life cycle of goods, works, and services, promoting the best value for society.
The guide for defining and applying sustainability criteria in public procurement was published by the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services.
The guide and the video below were produced as part of the EcoAdvance: Environmental Labeling and Sustainable Public Procurement project, in collaboration with the Secretariat of Management and Innovation in Public Services (SEGES) of the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI), funded through the International Climate Initiative.
