The establishment of the Communities of Practice (CoPs) was one of the event’s key practical outcomes, aimed at creating lasting mechanisms for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and peer learning among IKI-supported projects.

The process was introduced by Stefan Wollschied, who presented the IKI Gender Community of Practice (GCoP) as a successful example of a collaborative network dedicated to advancing gender justice and peer-to-peer learning at the international level. Linked to the IKI Gender Action Plan (2024–2027), the GCoP serves as an ongoing platform for dialogue and experience sharing, bringing together participants through regular meetings that address intersectional themes such as youth, biodiversity, and climate finance. The initiative strengthens institutional capacities, fosters the co-creation of solutions adapted to different project contexts, and builds an international cooperation network grounded in active listening, participation, and collective learning.

Inspired by this experience, participants engaged in a collaborative process to design new Communities of Practice. Through participatory exercises and interviews, they defined the purpose, priority themes, initial actions, and expected outcomes for each community. The selection of the groups was carried out in a participatory manner, encouraging integration among participants and organizing discussions around shared agendas for dialogue, cooperation, and networking.

As a result, six new Communities of Practice were proposed, each with specific objectives and initial action points aimed at strengthening collaboration among projects and expanding the exchange of knowledge and experiences across the IKI network.
